This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information across our website, mobile app, APIs, and all other services (collectively, the “Services”).
By using SoundVent, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account & Profile Information
We collect information you provide when you create or update your account, including:
- Email address, username, display name
- Password (stored using secure hashing)
- Profile details (bio, location, member type, social links)
- Artist data (genre, subgenres, Spotify integration, and related profile information)
1.2 Content You Create
SoundVent allows users to upload and share content, including:
- Photos, videos, music, audio, and other media files
- Posts, comments, likes, reactions, and other social interactions
- Messages and conversations
- Groups, events, and other community features
We store this content as part of providing the Services.
1.3 Usage & Device Information
When you use SoundVent, we automatically collect certain information, such as:
- IP address and general location (e.g., city, region)
- Browser type, operating system, device type, and device identifiers
- Referring URLs and exit pages
- Pages viewed, features used, and time spent on the Services
- Performance data, crash logs, and diagnostic information
- Information stored via cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies
1.4 Transaction & Commerce Data
If you buy or sell products on SoundVent, we may collect:
- Order history and purchase details
- Billing and shipping information (limited to what is necessary to process orders)
- Payment processing information from Stripe (we do not store full credit card numbers)
- Fulfillment and shipping information from Printful and similar providers
1.5 Third-Party Integrations
If you choose to connect third-party services to SoundVent, we may receive information from:
- Spotify (e.g., artist profiles, public releases, playlists)
- Bandsintown (e.g., public events and tour dates)
- YouTube (e.g., public channel information, playlists, and videos)
- Other integrations that you explicitly authorize
You can disconnect integrations at any time through your account settings or the third-party platform.
1.6 Messages & Communication
We collect information related to communications on the platform, including:
- Content of messages you send or receive
- Message metadata (such as timestamps and read status)
- Notification and communication preferences
We do not sell or use your private messages for advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the SoundVent platform and Services
- Provide and personalize your feed, recommendations, and discovery features
- Enable posting, messaging, and social interactions between users
- Process payments, facilitate orders, and deliver products and subscriptions
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests or inquiries
- Communicate with you about updates, features, changes, and platform news
- Analyze usage and performance to improve existing features and build new ones
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, spam, security incidents, or illegal activity
- Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines
We do not sell your personal data.
3. How We Share Information
3.1 Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate and improve the Services, including:
- Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, realtime)
- Vercel (hosting and deployment)
- Stripe (payments and payouts)
- Printful (merchandise production and order fulfillment)
- Mux (video processing, hosting, and playback)
- SendGrid (transactional and account-related email delivery)
- Cloudflare (security, performance, and CDN)
These providers may access your information only to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
3.2 Third-Party Integrations You Connect
When you connect third-party integrations (such as Spotify, Bandsintown, or YouTube) to your SoundVent account, we may share limited information as needed to provide those features. You can disconnect integrations at any time.
3.3 Analytics & Advertising Partners
We may share aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information with analytics or advertising partners to understand usage patterns and performance. We do not share your personal messages or direct identifiers with these partners for advertising purposes.
3.4 Legal, Safety & Compliance
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or government requests
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of SoundVent, our users, or the public
- Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues
3.5 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data remains protected.

5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as:
- Your account is active; or
- It is reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, or business purposes.
If you delete your account, your profile and most associated content will be removed from public view. Some information may be retained in backups or logs for a limited period as required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. Certain interactions (such as messages sent to other users) may remain visible to those users.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal and contractual obligations

7. Children’s Privacy
SoundVent is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child in violation of applicable laws, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to help protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure access controls, and regular monitoring. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.
9. Automated Decision-Making & AI Systems
We may use automated systems and algorithms to help us:
- Detect spam, abuse, and suspicious account behavior
- Recommend content, artists, or communities you may like
- Moderate content or flag potential violations of our Terms of Service
- Analyze usage to improve features and performance
These systems do not make final enforcement decisions without human oversight. Where required by law, you may have the right to request human review of certain automated decisions.
10. International Data Transfers
SoundVent is operated from the United States, and your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to protect your data in accordance with applicable laws.
11. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions, we process your personal data based on:
- Consent – For example, when you connect integrations or opt into certain communications.
- Performance of a Contract – To provide the Services you sign up for.
- Legal Obligations – To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Legitimate Interests – Such as improving the platform, preventing fraud, and ensuring the security of the Services.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to:

13. “Do Not Track” Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that can send a signal to websites you visit. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how to respond to DNT signals, and we do not currently respond to them. We will update this Policy if that changes.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Services or by other reasonable means. The updated Policy will indicate the “Last Updated” date at the top.
